A cruise ship came within 100 feet of striking a multimillion dollar Florida residence Friday, and it was all caught on tape.
The Celebrity Equinox cruise ship nearly ran into the back patio of Miami residents Bill and Yasmine Todhunter. Bill can be seen on the video below going outside and waving at the ship, desperately trying to get it to change course.
Though the ship did not run into the property, the incident is eerily reminiscent of the January 2012 capsizing of the Costa Concordia cruise ship. The Concordia sailed too closely to shore, stuck underwater rocks, and began to take on water. 32 people died in the tragedy.
When a massive ship runs into a stationary object, such as underwater rocks, a hole can open in the hull, putting passengers’ and crew members’ lives in danger.
