Mechanical issues on a cruise ship caused it to make an unplanned stop at Port Canaveral on Wednesday.
The Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas stopped at Port Canaveral for repairs on Wednesday, after the ship suffered from mechanical issues as it sailed from the Bahamas to Baltimore.
Passengers complained that Royal Caribbean officials did not fully explain the nature of the problem, which left the passengers stranded in port. The mechanical issues and resulting change in itinerary will cause the ship to arrive in Baltimore two days later than planned.
The company addressed the problem in a statement, saying that the ship is able to continue toward its destination as is, but that it was diverted to Port Canaveral for repairs out of an abundance of caution.
According to a report by WESH 2 News, this is at least the second major incident to strike the Grandeur of the Seas in recent years. In 2003 the ship was struck by an onboard fire which left it badly burned.
