Man Rescued After 5 Hours in Sea after Fall from Cruise Ship

Proudly Representing Cruise Ship Cases in Miami, Nearby Areas of Florida and Nationwide

What really happens when a person falls overboard from a cruise ship? Usually the victim is never seen or heard from again. Due to the extreme adverse conditions found in the sea, including choppy water, frigid temperatures, and ocean swells, many people simply cannot tread water long enough for cruise ship authorities to determine that someone is missing, and return to the victim’s last known location.

But, as can be seen in the following video, occasionally miracles do happen.

The passenger who was rescued in this case had to tread water for 5 long hours, and was rescued. But, miraculously, he was not picked up by the cruise ship from which he fell, but rather was spotted by a passenger on another ship which just happened to be in the area at the time. The passenger heard the man’s screams from the sea, and helped have him rescued.

As the reporter in the news piece says, the top deck of the Oasis of the Seas cruise ship is higher than the height of Niagara Falls, meaning that the fall alone is enough to seriously disable or kill.
