The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that a Florida man is in custody following allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman aboard a cruise ship recently.

According to the report the man, identified as 23-year-old Brian Holland of Jacksonville, has been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman aboard the Carnival Elation cruise ship. The woman, who the report indicates is developmentally challenged, was reportedly in a hot tub with Holland when he began to touch her leg. The woman removed his hand, says the report, but Holland continued to touch her and eventually inserted his hand into her bathing suit and penetrated her.

The woman notified her guardian of the occurrence, who then notified ship security officials.  During an exam of the woman’s genitals, ship medical personnel reportedly encountered abrasions, corroborating the allegations.

Upon returning to port Holland was arrested. He is currently being held and is facing up to life in prison on federal charges of aggravated sexual abuse by force.
