Coast Guard Suspends Search for Missing Cruise Ship Crew Member

The Coast Guard said the 39-year-old Filipino crew member went missing from the Liberty of the Seas cruise ship on Monday as it sailed in off the southern coast of the U.S. The missing man, a bartender, was reported missing on Monday morning at about 4:40 a.m.

The Coast Guard deployed air and sea assets in its search, which stretched from Galveston, TX east to Mississippi and Alabama. After searching approximately 5,000 nautical miles the search was called off.

According to ABC13.com, Royal Caribbean released a statement which read "Our Care Team is providing support to our crew member's family, as well as his friends and colleagues onboard, and our thoughts and prayers are with them."
